Eight Ghatel players who are members of the national women team, Black Queens but given the permission to travel with their team to Burkina Faso have joined their colleagues in camp. The Queens are camped at the Winneba Sports College to prepare for their African Women Cup qualifier against Senegal slated for Dakar on September 22.
Ghatel players who dominate the Queens squad have just returned from Burkina Faso where they had travelled to defend a five nations trophy they won last year but were not allowed to participate because of not being invited formally.
They were left with no other alternatives than to play exhibition matches with two of the participating teams on condition that the number of goals they should score should be pre-determined.
Senegal which together with Burkina Faso agreed to play Ghatel later pulled out at the last minute having in mind their pending qualifier against the Queens.
The five-nation tournament however afforded Coach Mike Akpe Deputy coach of the Queens the opportunity to watch the Senegalese in action. Members of the Ghatel ladies who have joined the Queens are Elizabeth Baidu, Adjoa Bayor, Basilea Amoah-Tetteh, Sheila Okaine Hamdia Abass, Mamuna Darku, Aminatu Ibrahim and Mavis Danso.
