Kumasi, Sept. 20, GNA - Kpando Heart of Lions displayed an impressive performance to record a 3-0 walloping of Kumasi-based King Faisal in their second and final match of this year's MTN/GALCA Top 4 Tournament played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Sunday.
Lions have thus demonstrated their prowess in the competition after drawing 1-1 with Faisal in the first leg match in Accra and going ahead to beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak in their two leg matches of the competition.
The Kpando lads took the lead in the 50th minute in a match which was virtually played in an empty stadium when Edmund Owusu-Ansah hit the back of the net with a first time drive from Joseph Jackson's in-swinger which sent goalkeeper Osei Boating sprawling.
Propelled by the goal, Lions continued to pile pressure on their opponents and got their second goal in the 62nd minute through Bright Nsiah who delivered a powerful shot to the admiration of their few supporters who thronged the stadium.
Faisal accepted the challenge and played it hard and this paved the way for a chance in the 67th minute but a shot from their prolific goal poacher, Prince Arkoh was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Stephen Ahorlu.
Faisal had another opportunity to redeem a goal in the 72nd minute but an indirect kick in the vital area of their opponents was wasted.
Lions who really proved a hard nut to crack made it three in the 83rd minute when a close range shot from substitute Daniel Aquaye hit the foot of Yakubu Issah and deflected into the yawning net with Osei Boating completely beaten.
Faisal made frantic efforts to score at least a consolation goal but the iron clad defence of Lions built around Kweku Andoh, Sherif Danladi, Joseph Jackson and Daniel Yeboah refused to yield before referee Samuel Gyasi brought the proceedings to an end after the four minutes of time added on had been exhausted.
