Barely three months to the next African Nations Cup in Mali, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has intensified its search for a technical adviser to beef up the current Black Stars technical team headed by Mr. Fred Osam-Duodu.

Initially, the GFA banked its hopes on former Stars coach, Sam Arday, to take up that task but that unfortunately fizzled out because of his other engagements.

Making this known in an exclusive interview with The Mirror FA Chairman, Mr. Ben Koufie noted that the issue of strengthening the Stars technical team came up for discussion at the last meeting of the FA management board but no definite conclusions were reached.

He, however, indicated that the lot fell on Sam Arday to take up the appointment in the interim but there were a few administrative points to clear due to the fact that the former police officer's rejected the deal mainly due to his commitment with the Feyenoord Academy based at Gomoa Fetteh.

Coach Arday's heavy schedule as technical director of the Feyenoord Fetteh Academy also includes supervising division one side, Feyenoord Salgado, and the needed talent, would be required to assist Osam-Duodu in a purely advisory capacity, including spying for the Stars' trainer. According to the GFA Chairman, the nation's soccer controlling body thinks there is the need to beef up the Stars bench before Mali 2002, hence the move to get someone like the 'Multi-System Man' who made history with the Black Meteors after winning Africa's first ever medal at Barcelona '92. Coach Arday was later appointed the Black Stars head coach after leading the Black Starlets to their second juvenile World Cup triumph in Ecuador in 1995.
