Mr Richard Fedieley of the Fitness and Regenerative Department of the Ministry of Health in Accra, has advised Ghanaians to eat nutritious foods and ensure regular body exercise to enable them to lead a healthy life.

Mr Fedieley was addressing a durbar as part of activities marking the annual health week of the Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports Students Association, HPERSSA of the University of Education, Winneba, on Thursday.

The theme for the celebration was “fitness, the tool for regenerative health”.

Mr Fedieley advised the gathering to lead a good healthy lifestyle by eating healthy nutritious foods and for optimum health attainment.

He stressed the need for Ghanaians to check their nutrition in order to ensure a healthy growth devoid of diseases and sickness.

According to him, too much intake of salt is not good for the body and urged them to also avoid fatty foods.

“Do not take in too much oil, but if the need arises then it should be only palm oil, which is good for the body”.

Mr Fedieley called for periodic bodily physical activities in order to promote fitness.

In a welcoming address, the President of HPERSSA, Mr Joseph Tornyenyor, appealed to Organisations and Agencies to help develop physical education in the schools to support the training of physical educators in the country.

Mr Tornyenyor also appealed to the Ministry of Education Science and Sports to make physical education an integral part of the school curriculum to enable the nation to have healthy and strong scholars.

Dr Henry Puffa, Head of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports (HPERS), pledged his outfit continuous support for the enhancement of regenerative health in the country.

An appeal for funds in aid of a bus for the Association yielded GHc158.50.
