Asante Kotoko have fined assistant coach Diogo Mendes Gomes Pinto Peral following an incident involving Medeama SC player Ebenezer Adade during their Ghana Premier League encounter on Sunday.
The Portuguese trainer is accused of assaulting Adade during the Matchday 9 fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has subsequently charged Peral and given him until Wednesday, 4 November 2026, to respond to the allegations and present his defence.
In a statement issued on Monday, 2 November, Kotoko acknowledged the incident and confirmed that the coach had admitted he could have handled the situation better.
"Following discussions with the coach, he has acknowledged that he could have handled the situation better and conducted himself more professionally," the club said.
The Porcupine Warriors also stressed that the alleged conduct fell below the standards expected of individuals representing the club.
"The Club wishes to state that such conduct does not reflect the standards and values we uphold at Asante Kotoko. Consequently, the Club has imposed a fine on Coach Diogo Peral as part of its internal disciplinary measures," the statement added.
Kotoko reiterated their commitment to discipline, professionalism, accountability and mutual respect, insisting that emotions during competitive matches should never compromise the values of the institution.
The club also called on supporters and stakeholders to continue backing the team as they pursue their objectives for the season.
Peral now faces the GFA disciplinary process, with the committee expected to consider his response to the charge.
