The Ghana Education Service (GES) has commenced investigations into an alleged assault on a final-year student of Techiman Senior High School (SHS) by two teachers of the institution.

The development follows the circulation of a video on social media purportedly showing the two teachers assaulting the student.

In the video, the teachers were seen slapping the student, while one of them was seen stamping on him with his foot.

In a statement issued on Saturday, October 31, GES identified the teachers as Jerry Jones Owusu Bekoe and Adusa Ameyaw, while the affected student was named as Seedorf Abeka Ampah, an Agricultural Science student.

“The school's disciplinary committee has held its initial hearing into the matter. The committee's findings are expected to be submitted to Management through the Regional Directorate in the coming days to inform further action and decisions,” the statement said.

The statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES further disclosed that the student had received medical attention and was responding positively to treatment.

“The affected student, identified as Seedorf Abeka Ampah, a final-year Agricultural Science student, has received medical attention and is responding positively to treatment,” it noted.

The Service has urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
