At least 11 people have reportedly been injured after a bus carrying players and officials of Ghanaian Division Two side Koforidua City FC was involved in a serious road accident at Saforo in the Eastern Region.
Seven players are currently receiving treatment at the hospital following the incident, which occurred on Sunday, November 1, 2026, as the team travelled to honour a league fixture against Shacor Supper Stars FC.
A total of 20 players, three club officials, the driver and his mate were on board the vehicle at the time of the accident.
According to a report by Sporty FM, those injured were rushed to Mampong Hospital for medical attention.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, with no further information available about the severity of the injuries or the current condition of those affected.
The incident has once again brought attention to concerns about the safety and welfare of football teams travelling across the country for domestic league matches.
Lower-tier clubs in Ghana often face logistical and financial difficulties, including challenges in securing suitable transportation for players and officials during away fixtures.
It remains unclear whether the scheduled league encounter between Koforidua City FC and Shacor Supper Stars FC will be rescheduled following the accident.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
