The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed Samson Adamu as its new General Secretary following his appointment by the organisation's Executive Committee.
Adamu, who has served in an acting capacity since March 2026, was formally confirmed at a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee this week.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe said the appointment followed a comprehensive recruitment process, which included advertising the position and interviewing several candidates.
Adamu joined CAF in 2018 as Director of Competitions before going on to serve as Director of Tournaments and Events.
He has played a key role in organising several major continental competitions during his time at the organisation, including the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Africa's flagship football tournament.
The new General Secretary holds a FIFA Master degree in International Management, Law and Humanities of Sport.
In his new position, Adamu will oversee CAF's day-to-day administration and help implement the organisation's strategic priorities.
His confirmation marks a new chapter in his career at the continental football governing body, where he has held several senior administrative positions since joining in 2018.
