Former Ghana Golf Association (GGA) president Michael Aggrey has been unanimously retained as secretary general of the Africa Golf Confederation (AGC) for another four-year term.
Aggrey secured the mandate at the Confederation’s Biennial General Meeting in Hammamet, Tunisia, on 16 October 2026, held alongside the All Africa Team Championship.
His new term will run from 2026 to 2030, extending his tenure in the role, which began in 2022.
Aggrey’s unopposed endorsement reflects the confidence of the African golfing community in his leadership and administrative work over the past four years.
During his tenure, he has played a key role in strengthening the Confederation’s governance structures, improving financial management and expanding golf’s reach across the continent.
He has also led efforts to introduce and formalise the sport in countries where golf has had little or no established presence, as part of broader efforts to increase participation and develop the game in Africa.
Aggrey will continue working alongside re-elected AGC president Johnson Omolo as the Confederation seeks to build on the progress made during their previous term.
Key priorities for the next four years include strengthening partnerships with international golf bodies to improve technical training, attracting corporate sponsorship for major regional competitions and developing grassroots talent to improve Africa’s representation on the global stage.
His reappointment also extends Ghana’s influence in the administration and development of golf across Africa, with Aggrey having served as a prominent figure in sports administration and international coordination.
Beyond golf, Aggrey was the Chef de Mission of Ghana’s delegation to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where the country won a bronze medal.
His continued presence on the AGC executive council is expected to support efforts to improve the organisation’s operations, promote cooperation among member nations and create more opportunities for African golfers to compete at the highest level.
