Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson says the government has paid GH¢24.8 billion to statutory funds since January 2026 to support education, healthcare, road maintenance and local development.
The payments, he said, reflect a shift from the delays, capping and accumulation of arrears that previously affected the release of funds to statutory institutions.
“Unlike in the past, when payments were marked by delays, capping and arrears, we now release these funds on time and in full,” Dr Forson said.
“This ensures statutory funds have the money they need to provide the essential services required by law.”
The announcement follows the release of the third-quarter statutory funds for 2026, covering several institutions and programmes that provide essential public services.
Among the beneficiaries are the Ghana Education Trust Fund, the Free Senior High School Programme, the District Assemblies Common Fund, the National Health Insurance Fund and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
Other funds covered by the payments include the Road Maintenance Trust Fund, the Mineral Development Fund and the Mineral Income Investment Fund.
According to Dr Forson, the disbursements are intended to support services that directly affect the daily lives of Ghanaians while enabling the institutions involved to plan and execute their respective programmes.
