Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has urged his former club to consider signing Ghana international Antoine Semenyo, describing the Manchester City forward as a player who could make a difference at Anfield.
Heskey believes Liverpool could renew their interest in the 26-year-old if Manchester City are forced to sell players amid uncertainty surrounding the club’s financial charges.
Semenyo has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous attacking players, using his pace, physical strength and direct running to trouble opposition defences.
The former England international believes those qualities would make the Ghanaian a valuable addition to Liverpool’s attacking options as they compete for major honours.
“Semenyo is a very explosive attacking player who's got an eye for goal,” Heskey told TEAMtalk.
“He's exactly what the top four teams want in a wide player – not only do you create, but you're explosive enough to go and score some goals yourself.”
Liverpool had previously been linked with a move for Semenyo before his switch to Manchester City in January.
His versatility across the forward line, ability to beat defenders and capacity to create and score goals could offer Liverpool another dimension in attack.
However, any potential transfer would depend on Manchester City’s willingness to sell and whether Liverpool decide to pursue their reported interest in the Ghanaian forward.
Semenyo is expected to be in action when Manchester City host Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday, with the Ghanaian continuing to attract attention for his performances in English football.
