Manchester United and Aston Villa legend Dwight Yorke has confirmed his interest in becoming the next head coach of Ghana.
The Black Stars are currently without a substantive head coach following Carlos Queiroz's resignation after a poor start to Ghana's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Ghana sit bottom of Group C without a point after losing their opening two matches.
The Black Stars began their campaign with a 2-0 defeat by Ivory Coast before surrendering a two-goal lead to lose 4-2 to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium.
With the Ghana Football Association and Sports Ministry having set up a five-member committee to search for a new coach, Yorke has expressed his desire to take charge of the national team.
"It is a job that most top coaches will be interested in because of the history of Ghanaian football," Yorke told Asempa FM.
"I have friends like Sammy Kuffour, and he speaks highly of Ghanaian football, and so I am very much interested in the Ghana coaching job," he added.
The five-member search committee is expected to submit its report to the Sports Ministry on Friday, 9 October.
The Black Stars are scheduled to return to action in November when they face Somalia in a double-header in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Yorke was a key member of Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United side that won the historic treble in the 1998-99 season. He formed a prolific attacking partnership with fellow striker Andy Cole during his time at Old Trafford.
The former Trinidad and Tobago international also holds a UEFA Pro Licence, the highest coaching qualification available in European football.
He completed his coaching education while working with Manchester United's youth set-up at Carrington and also holds UEFA A and B licences.
Yorke began his senior managerial career in July 2022 when he was appointed head coach of Australian A-League side Macarthur FC.
He guided the club to its first Australia Cup title in his debut season, securing his first major trophy as a manager.
In November 2024, Yorke was appointed head coach of Trinidad and Tobago, the country he captained at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
His spell in charge ended in March 2026 after Trinidad and Tobago failed to qualify for the World Cup, with Yorke recording four wins from 18 matches during his tenure.
