A young woman believed to be in her 20s has been found dead after her body was discovered hanging from a mango tree at Kasoa Akweley Peace Town.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, October 4, 2026, leaving residents in the community shocked.
The deceased, whose identity had not been established at the time of reporting, was reportedly wearing only a red T-shirt when residents found her body suspended from the tree.
Some residents claimed they heard screams from the area around midnight but did not immediately investigate the source of the sounds.
There are also reports that the woman may have been part of a group that had travelled to the community for a one-week celebration.
The circumstances surrounding her death have, however, raised concerns among residents, with some suspecting that she may have been sexually assaulted before her body was allegedly placed on the tree in an attempt to make the incident appear to be suicide.
The allegations have not been independently established, and the exact circumstances leading to the woman’s death remain unclear.
The police have since conveyed the body to the mortuary as investigations continue to determine the cause of death and establish what happened before the woman was found hanging from the tree.
