Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz believes Ghana are evenly matched with Côte d’Ivoire as the two West African rivals prepare to face off in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana, who failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, will begin their bid to return to the continental tournament with a challenging away fixture against Côte d’Ivoire at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké on 24 September.
Speaking to the media in Accra following his reappointment, Queiroz expressed confidence in his side's ability to compete with the reigning African champions.
“They are as much good as us, so it will be 50-50; they are good, we are good,” the Portuguese coach said.
“Let’s see on the day who can play the best football.”
The Black Stars will then return home to face The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on 27 September as Queiroz looks to build momentum in Group C.
Following the two qualifiers, Ghana will conclude the international window with a high-profile friendly against Morocco at the Grand Stade de Tanger on 4 October.
