Chairman of Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee, Ernest Norgbey, says allegations surrounding an alleged National Sports Authority (NSA) visa scandal have not been formally brought before the committee.

His comments follow claims regarding the NSA's involvement in facilitating visas linked to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including allegations that some individuals paid money to receive assistance with travel arrangements.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Norgbey said the committee had only become aware of the matter through reports circulating on social media and had not received any official complaint or evidence.

“I heard of it on social media; it has not come to our attention formally. So all the questions Ranking was asking were hearsay,” he said.

Norgbey stressed that the committee could not rely on unverified claims when carrying out its oversight responsibilities.

“We are yet to get the veracity or otherwise of the whole matter,” he added.

The lawmaker noted that although he had heard some of the allegations, he was unable to confirm their authenticity.

“I have heard something like it, but I cannot substantiate it,” he stated.

He reiterated that the committee would require credible and verifiable information before the matter could be considered as part of its official proceedings.

Meanwhile, the Minority has called for the dismissal of NSA Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah over the allegations.
