Ghana's Theophilus Nii Kpakpo "Lopez" Allotey moved a step closer to a world title fight after beating Argentina's Facundo David Garcia by unanimous decision in a WBA Super Flyweight title eliminator at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
All three judges scored Saturday's contest 120-107 in favour of the unbeaten Ghanaian, who produced a dominant display in front of about 4,000 home fans.
Allotey made an explosive start by flooring Garcia in the opening round, forcing the referee to administer a count and setting the tone for the rest of the bout.
The Argentine became more cautious after the knockdown, but Allotey remained in control throughout, landing crisp jabs, hooks and uppercuts to secure a convincing victory.
The win extends the 24-year-old's professional record to 17 wins from 17 fights and keeps him on course for a WBA world title opportunity.
Allotey currently holds the WBO Africa Super Flyweight title, as well as the WBA Africa, UBO Africa and Ghana national belts.
The former amateur standout represented Ghana on the international stage, winning a medal during the Paris Olympic qualifiers and another at the 2024 African Games.
Sports Minister Kofi Adams, who attended the event, praised the crowd's conduct and said plans were progressing to build a larger, roofed boxing arena. He also congratulated Allotey on what he described as an outstanding performance.
Head coach Dr Ofori Asare said he was confident Ghana would soon produce another world champion, while calling for increased sponsorship to help the team prepare for Allotey's next fight.
Elsewhere on the Osagyefo Fight Night card, Olympic bronze medallist Samuel Takyi stopped Botswana's Steven Bagwasi with a second-round knockout.
David Amenuveve defeated Eric Mensah, while Inusah of the Ghana Army also claimed a second-round victory.
Joseph Antwi, known as "Junior Bazooka", knocked out Felix Mankattah despite sustaining a hand injury during the fight.
Michael Decardi Nelson of Akotoku Academy and Jerry Klutei Robertson of Sea View Gym fought to a draw in the main undercard contest.
Former WBA welterweight champion Ike "Bazooka" Quartey received a citation from the World Boxing Association during the event.
Among those in attendance were Sharaf Mahama, promotions manager for Allotey and Takyi, former Ghana Boxing Authority president Peter Zwennes, and the two candidates contesting the GBA presidential election, Rabbon Dodoo and Ivan Bruce Cudjoe.
Promoters Obra Sports said part of the gate proceeds would be donated to Ghana's national boxing teams, the Black Bombers and Black Rockets.
