Kwasi Sibo set for CAF Champions League debut as Al-Swehly draw Esprance

Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo is set to make his CAF Champions League debut after Al-Swehly SC secured a second preliminary-round tie against Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis.

The Libyan champions advanced with a 4-0 aggregate victory over Zanzibar's KVZ FC, following up a 1-0 first-leg win with a convincing 3-0 away triumph on Sunday.

After a goalless first half, John Oto John broke the deadlock before Mohammed Sola and Zad Al-Kheer Boukhawa added further goals to seal Al-Swehly's passage.

The victory sets up a daunting test against four-time African champions Esperance, with Sibo expected to play a prominent role as Al-Swehly pursue a place in the group stage of Africa's premier club competition.

The Ghanaian midfielder joined the Libyan side during the summer transfer window and is now poised for his first appearance in the Champions League after successful registration, having missed out in the first round of the preliminary game.

The second preliminary round will be played over two legs, with the first matches scheduled for 16-18 October and the return fixtures taking place between 23 and 25 October.

Meanwhile, Sibo is also expected to be included in Ghana's squad for this month's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ivory Coast and Gambia.
