Police probe mysterious death of popular primary school teacher at Ampabame No. 1

Residents of Ampabame No. 1 in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region have been thrown into shock following the death of a primary school teacher, Kwame Oduro.

The teacher, believed to be in his late 40s, was reportedly found dead in the early hours of Saturday, September 12, 2026, shortly after leaving his residence.

Mr Oduro taught at Ampabame No. 1 Primary School and was said to be widely respected in the community for his commitment to teaching and calm nature.

Reports indicate that he was at home with his wife before stepping outside for reasons that remain unknown. When he did not return after some time, his wife allegedly went looking for him and found him in a distressed condition.

He was later pronounced dead, and his remains were conveyed to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Although the incident is suspected to be a case of suicide, the exact circumstances surrounding his death have not been established. The police are expected to investigate the matter to determine what happened.

The teacher’s sudden passing has reportedly left his colleagues, pupils and residents struggling to come to terms with the loss.

Mr Oduro is survived by his wife and two children.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
