I am confident Jordan Ayew will make an impact - Sheffield United coach Chris Wilder

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder believes Jordan Ayew has the experience and versatility to make an immediate impact after the Ghana captain completed his move to the Championship club.

The 34-year-old forward has signed a one-year contract with the Blades as a free agent after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season.

Wilder said the deal came together quickly and believes Ayew's pedigree will strengthen his squad as they target promotion.

"I spoke last week about being close to getting someone in from the free agent market, and things did move quite quickly, so I am really pleased to have Jordan with us," he told the club's media.

"We're talking about someone here with bags of experience from right at the top level of the game. Only a few months ago he was captaining Ghana in the World Cup, so he's someone with real pedigree."

Ayew's ability to operate across the front line was another key factor behind the move, according to Wilder.

"He did well at this level last season in difficult circumstances and has played all across the front positions during his career, which gives us plenty of options."

Wilder also pointed to the club's recent success in the free-agent market, adding that he expects Ayew to make a similar contribution to experienced arrivals Patrick Bamford and Jaïro Riedewald.

With more than 500 senior appearances to his name, Ayew brings a wealth of experience to Sheffield United as they seek a return to the Premier League.
