Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo completes move to Libyan side Al-Swehly after Real Oviedo exit

Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo has joined Libyan champions Al-Swehly on a three-year contract after leaving Spanish side Real Oviedo as a free agent.

The 28-year-old was unveiled in a club video confirming his arrival, with the deal including an option to extend for a further year.

Sibo's move follows the collapse of a proposed transfer to Turkish Super Lig side Gençlerbirliği, allowing Al-Swehly to secure the Black Stars midfielder.

Reports suggest the deal is worth around $10m, with the package said to form part of a wider Libyan government-backed initiative to attract established African players to the country's top flight.

The midfielder arrives after an impressive 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with Ghana, featuring in all four of the Black Stars' matches.

Sibo played 249 minutes during the tournament, starting the goalless draw against England and making appearances against Panama, Croatia and Colombia.

He is now expected to play a key role in Al-Swehly's bid to make an impact in the CAF Champions League, with the Libyan champions set to face KVZ of Zanzibar in the preliminary round.
