We are happy to add Ibrahim Danlad to our competitive squad – Kotoko director of football Stanley Menzo

Asante Kotoko director of football Stanley Menzo has welcomed the return of goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad, describing the former Ghana international as an experienced addition to the club's squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

Danlad, 25, has rejoined the Porcupine Warriors after a spell with Ethiopian side Coffee SC, where he kept 28 clean sheets in more than 55 appearances across all competitions.

Menzo, himself a former goalkeeper, said Danlad's experience and familiarity with the club made him an attractive option as Kotoko continue to strengthen their squad.

"I know he is still young in football terms but very experienced. He has been to the World Cup, and in my career I also played as a goalkeeper, so I know what it takes to be one. That makes it easy to settle on him," he said.

"Moreover, he has trained very well with us, and we are all impressed with his performances. He knows the club, the environment and the expectations here, so we are happy to add him to the competitive squad we are building," he added.

Danlad first joined Kotoko in 2016 as a teenager and made his Ghana Premier League debut in a 2-0 away victory over Aduana FC during the club's title-winning 2021/22 campaign.

His performances earned him a place in Ghana's squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar under former Black Stars coach Otto Addo.

Kotoko will begin their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign with an away fixture against newly promoted Debibi United.
