Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says the club are targeting qualification from the group stage of the CAF Champions League as they prepare to make their return to Africa's elite club competition.
The Yellow and Mauve earned their place in the competition after winning the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title.
Medeama have been drawn against DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in the first round of the preliminary stage, setting up a challenging test for the Ghanaian champions.
Tanko says his side will not look beyond their immediate task, but has made it clear that Medeama's ambition extends beyond the early rounds of the competition.
"We’ll take it game by game, but our target this time is to go beyond the group stage of the CAF Champions League," he told Asempa FM.
Medeama will host Mazembe in the first leg at the TNA Park on 5 September, with the return fixture scheduled for 13 September in DR Congo.
Both matches are due to kick off at 15:00 GMT.
Medeama will be hoping to build on their domestic success as they seek to establish themselves among the leading clubs on the African continent.
For Tanko and his players, overcoming Mazembe will be the first major hurdle in their pursuit of a place in the Champions League group stage.
