
The Management of VIP Jeoun has confirmed that one of its coaches caught fire while waiting to undertake a scheduled trip from Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality to Accra.
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 15, with no casualties recorded as the coach was stationary and had no passengers on board.
According to management, the coach, with registration number GT 6770-18, was scheduled to begin loading and boarding passengers at 9:30 p.m.
The conductor, Kwaku Apai, reportedly noticed smoke coming from the coach at about 6:45 p.m. and immediately switched off its power supply.
He then alerted the station supervisor, who contacted the Ghana National Fire Service for assistance.
Management stated that a replacement was provided to ensure the scheduled journey could proceed while the relevant authorities investigated the cause of the fire and worked to remove the debris.
VIP Jeoun assured passengers of its commitment to providing safe and comfortable transportation services.
