Ada Women’s Netball Team Shines as They Crown Ada Asafotufiami Sports in Grand Style — Without Men’s Football

The Ada women’s netball team was the toast of spectators at this year’s 89th Ada Asafotufiami Festival, emerging as the highlight of the sports activities that closed the annual celebration. With most traditional sporting events scaled down in solemn remembrance of departed chiefs, the women’s netball competition became the main sporting attraction — and it delivered excitement in abundance.

Despite the reduced number of activities, the 2024 Ada Asafotufiami Festival was successful, colourful, and historic, as it also marked the launch of the 50th anniversary of the installation of the Paramount Chief of Ada State, Dzetse Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III.

One of the standout figures of the event was Ebenezer Mawusour Kisseh, affectionately known as Sir Kiss, who led and coordinated the women’s netball teams. His efforts have been widely praised for nurturing female netball talent across Ada and sustaining interest in the sport.

Sir Kiss, a celebrated sports enthusiast and one of the most dedicated and fitness‑oriented teachers at Ada Senior High School (ADASCO), has long been a pillar of sports development in the Ada State. Despite challenges that threatened to disrupt the festival’s sports programme, he successfully organised a vibrant and competitive women’s netball tournament at the Presbyterian Church football park, bringing the sports segment of the festival to an energetic close.
