Ghana international Felix Afena-Gyan has completed a permanent move to Turkish club Iğdır FK from Italian side Cremonese, ending his three-year association with the Serie B outfit.

The 22-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year contract on Thursday following an impressive loan spell with Turkish side Amedspor during the 2025/26 season.

Afena-Gyan enjoyed a productive campaign at Amedspor, scoring five goals and providing six assists to help the club secure promotion to the Turkish Super Lig.

His performances drew interest from a number of clubs, with Iğdır FK eventually winning the race for his signature.

The former AS Roma striker rose to prominence under legendary coach José Mourinho after making a breakthrough into the first team. His impressive displays earned him a €7.5 million transfer to Cremonese in 2022.

However, the Ghanaian found it difficult to cement a regular place during his time in Italy. A successful loan spell in Turkey revitalised his career, paving the way for a permanent return to the country.

Despite his strong performances last season, Afena-Gyan was left out of Ghana's squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz selected other attacking options for the tournament.

The move to Iğdır FK presents the young forward with another opportunity to build on his resurgence, continue his development, and strengthen his case for a return to the Black Stars ahead of upcoming international competitions.
