Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama has pledged a special bonus to the Black Stars if they defeat Croatia and qualify for the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Mahama made the promise during a visit to the team's training camp in Rhode Island on Thursday, following a government delegation visit.

Addressing the players and technical staff, Ibrahim Mahama praised head coach Carlos Queiroz for the impact he has made since taking charge of the Black Stars ahead of the tournament.

"I'm very proud because you came in at a shorter time, and you've been able to put the boys together. Wonderful performance," he told Queiroz.

Mahama then challenged the players to finish the job against Croatia, promising them an additional reward if they secured qualification for the Round of 32.

"I have a much better bonus for you than the taxpayers because they have to go to Parliament. I don't have to go to Parliament. Please do us proud," Mahama said to applause from the squad.

The delegation also included Ghana's Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Smith, Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams.

Ghana opened their campaign with a 1-0 win over Panama before holding England to a frustrating 0-0 draw in the second Group L game.

The Black Stars head into Saturday's final Group L fixture against Croatia knowing victory will secure their place in the Round of 32.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars have arrived at Philadelphia from Rhode Island for the game.
