Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed confidence that Ghana will deliver a performance that leaves supporters proud at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the team is prepared to compete strongly despite limited preparation time.
Speaking at a farewell event on Wednesday ahead of the team’s departure to their base in Rhode Island, the veteran coach said his squad is focused on making an impact through winning performances.
"On behalf of my boys, I just can as a coach guarantee that when you finish the games, you will want to be proud of them; I am sure of that," Queiroz said.
"The great goal that we have in mind is our duty, and our goal is to make people happy, and the more you can make more people happy if you win, and we are ready to do that," the former Iran and Egypt boss added.
The 73-year-old, who is heading to his fifth World Cup, having previously managed Iran at multiple editions, was appointed Ghana head coach in April and has had a brief period to work with the squad.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
The Black Stars open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium. Their final group match comes against Croatia on June 27.
