Ghana’s build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup has gathered further pace following the arrival of six additional players at the Black Stars’ training camp in Cardiff on Thursday.
Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi, winger Kamal Deen Sulemana, defender Abdul Mumin, midfielder Kwasi Sibo, defender Jonas Adjetey and forward Prince Kwabena Adu all joined the squad at Dragon Park and immediately took part in training sessions.
Their inclusion brings the total number of players in camp to 22 as head coach Carlos Queiroz steps up preparations ahead of the international friendly against Wales scheduled for June 2.
The new arrivals strengthen key areas of the squad, with Ati-Zigi reinforcing the goalkeeping department, Sulemana, Adu and Sibo adding attacking and midfield options, while Mumin and Adjetey provide additional depth in defence.
They join an already assembled group that includes Jordan Ayew, Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Baba Abdul Rahman, Gideon Mensah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Christopher Bonsu Baah and Elisha Owusu, among others.
However, several high-profile players are still expected to report to camp, including Thomas Partey of Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams, Manchester City attacker Antoine Semenyo, Spartak Moscow defender Alexander Djiku, Nice’s Kojo Oppong Peprah and Saint-Étienne midfielder Augustine Boakye.
With the squad gradually approaching full strength, Queiroz is expected to intensify training sessions in the coming days, with two workouts planned for Friday as attention turns fully to the Wales fixture.
The friendly will serve as Ghana’s final major test before the team travels to North America for the World Cup.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia, opening their campaign against Panama in Toronto on June 17 before facing England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia.
Queiroz is expected to name his final 23-man squad for the tournament on June 1.
