Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has urged his players to maintain discipline and unity ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stressing that individual interests will not be tolerated within his squad.
The 73-year-old, recently appointed on a short-term deal as Otto Addo’s successor, will lead the Black Stars into the tournament in North America after taking charge of preparations for Ghana’s fifth appearance at football’s global showpiece.
Speaking on the Beyond The Whistle podcast, the experienced Portuguese manager—who has previously coached Egypt, Iran, and Colombia—delivered a firm reminder about collective responsibility.
“Nobody will be above the team,” he declared.
“Everybody must play with only one thing in mind — Ghana, the pride of the nation and the happiness of the people," the former Real Madrid boss added.
Ghana, four-time African champions, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
Their campaign begins on June 17 against Panama, followed by a clash with England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
Before heading to the tournament, the Black Stars will step up preparations with friendly matches against Mexico later this month and Wales on June 2.
Queiroz is expected to name his final World Cup squad on June 1 as competition for places intensifies.
