Ghana’s U-17 women’s national team, the Black Maidens, produced a dominant display at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, brushing aside Togo 6–0 to comfortably advance to the next round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The comprehensive victory completed an 8–0 aggregate triumph for Ghana after their 2–0 away win in the first leg, reaffirming their superiority over the two legs.
The hosts wasted no time asserting control in the return fixture. Juliana Gyekye broke the deadlock in the 13th minute before Zeina Shani struck twice in quick succession to put Ghana firmly in command. Sekinatu Amadu added a fourth goal before half-time, as the Black Maidens went into the break with an unassailable lead.
After the restart, Ghana maintained their intensity and attacking rhythm. Priscilla Mensah extended the advantage in the 77th minute, before Seidatu Wahab completed the rout deep into stoppage time.
Togo struggled throughout to contain Ghana’s pace, movement, and attacking cohesion, offering little resistance as the hosts dictated proceedings from start to finish in front of their supporters.
With the win, Ghana progress to the second round of the qualifiers where they will face Liberia, who advanced via a walkover against Libya.
The next phase is set for May, with Ghana expected to host the first leg between May 22 and 24 before travelling for the return fixture scheduled for May 29 to 31.
