Lawyer Tapha Tassah, the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Akan Constituency in the Oti Region, has paid a total of GHS105,000.00 as transportation and feeding (T&T) support for 1,012 delegates participating in the party’s Constituency Executives’ Election at Kadjebi.
The former parliamentary candidate said each delegate would receive GHS100.00.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Lawyer Tassah said the gesture formed part of his personal contribution towards the successful organisation of the election and should not be interpreted as support for any candidate.
He stressed that he remained neutral in the contest and had not endorsed any aspirant seeking election to the various constituency executive positions.
“I support no candidate in this election. My contribution is to facilitate the participation of delegates and to promote peace and unity within the party,” he said.
Lawyer Tassah appealed to both delegates and aspirants to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the election, describing the exercise as a family affair that should strengthen, rather than divide, the party.
He urged all contestants to accept the outcome of the election in good faith and work together to build a stronger constituency after the polls.
The former parliamentary candidate also encouraged delegates to exercise their franchise freely and responsibly by voting for candidates they believed possessed the competence, integrity and commitment to lead the party at the constituency level.
He wished all the aspirants success in the election and expressed the hope that the exercise would be free, fair, transparent and peaceful.
A total of 1,012 delegates are expected to vote to elect new constituency executives to steer the affairs of the NPP in the Akan Constituency for the next four years.
