Asante Kotoko Communications Director Sarfo Duku says the club is preparing to appoint an experienced head coach ahead of the 2026/27 football season as they look to reset after a difficult campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors are currently without a substantive head coach following the resignation of Karim Zito, with Prince Yaw Owusu taking charge on an interim basis until the end of the season.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Duku confirmed that discussions are ongoing over the next permanent appointment, which could come from either local or foreign options.
"We are hoping and working to appoint an experienced manager going into next season," he said.
"It could be either a local coach or an expatriate coach who can transform the playing body," Duku said.
With Kotoko’s title hopes fading, Duku admitted the current campaign is nearly over for the club, though he insisted they will continue to compete until the end.
"The season is almost over for Asante Kotoko with four games to end the season, but then we are not giving up as a club because anything can happen."
Kotoko have struggled for consistency throughout the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season and currently sit sixth on the table, 10 points adrift of leaders Medeama with five matches left to play, leaving their title ambitions effectively out of reach.
