Cameroon forward Bryan Mbeumo says he is filled with excitement and motivation ahead of his first appearance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), having missed the previous edition in Côte d’Ivoire through injury.
Speaking to CAFOnline, the Manchester United attacker expressed his delight at finally getting the opportunity to feature at Africa’s flagship international competition.
“I’m really excited. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time, and I’m very happy to be part of the squad here in Morocco,” said Mbeumo.
The former Brentford player, who has already represented Cameroon at the FIFA World Cup, acknowledged the unique significance of the Africa Cup of Nations.
“It’s a source of pride for all Africans. In my family, we’ve always watched the AFCON, and for them to now see me play in it will be a great honour. It’s a very special competition to take part in,” he added.
Cameroon have been drawn in Group F alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon and Mozambique and will open their campaign against Gabon tonight at the Adrar Stadium.
