GHALCA In Danger

The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) will henceforth face stiff opposition from the Ghana Amateur Football Club Owners Association (GAFCOA), which was unveiled yesterday.

The newly-formed association, which will among other things keep GHALCA on its toes, is the brainchild of some highly-respected soccer personalities.

The Executives of GAFCOA are Raymond Tetteh, President; Mr. Seth Dogbe, Vice-President; Mr. Arthur Addo, General Secretary; Mr William Tetteh and Mr. Ernest Odoi Asumang, members.

In all, nine executive members who are owners of the lower division teams- Colts, Division Three, Division Two and Division One clubs- were at the Registrar General's Department yesterday to receive their certificate of registration.

Speaking to the media after collecting the certificate, Mr. Kwabena Ofori, founder and owner of Capital Sports said the formation of the association is to create awareness on the need For Ghana Football Association (GFA) to give recognition to owners of lower division clubs.

“Our representatives, the likes of chairmen, administrators and chief executives are more recognized than the club owners.

“It is time to serve as a welfare body of the clubs to differentiate ourselves from our representatives, to foster good relationship with the GFA and other international bodies such as the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the West African Football Union (WAFU) and others,” he stated.

Investigations conducted by DAILY GUIDE SPORTS indicate that the afore-mentioned club owners are accusing GHALCA of mismanaging funds accruing from the transfer of Ghanaian players, both locally and internationally.
