Algerian side CS Constantine has gained a strong foothold in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign with a decisive 2-0 victory over Ghana’s Nsoatreman FC.
The first-leg clash played on Friday, September 13 at the Accra Sports Stadium, saw the visitors dominate the encounter and capitalize on early opportunities to secure the win.
In this second-round preliminary tie, CS Constantine displayed superior control and composure, particularly in the first half. The breakthrough came in the 11th minute, courtesy of a clinical finish from Zakaria Benchaa. The forward’s opener set the tone for what would be a commanding performance.
Just 16 minutes later, Benchaa struck again, completing a well-crafted brace in the 27th minute, leaving Nsoatreman FC trailing as they struggled to find their rhythm.
Despite a spirited response from Nsoatreman FC in the second half, where the team showed notable improvement in both defense and attack, they couldn’t find a way back into the game.
The Ghana Premier League outfit fought valiantly but ultimately lacked the cutting edge needed to break down the Algerian defense.
CS Constantine will return to Algeria with a comfortable 2-0 advantage, putting them in a commanding position ahead of the reverse fixture. With the second leg to be played next weekend, the Algerian side will be confident of securing their spot in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
Nsoatreman FC, meanwhile, will need to mount a remarkable comeback in Algeria if they hope to keep their continental dreams alive.
