Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has confirmed the departure of defender Dennis Nkrumah Korsah ahead of the new football season.
The former Ebusua Dwarfs defender was left out of the Phobians squad for their 2024 Homowo Cup game against Heart of Lions staged at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking after the game, the Ivorian tactician confirmed the departure of the defender.
“We are in a new era and this time, it is not about names. The names are not important. It is a strategy we are putting in place to fit everyone,” Ouattara said.
“Michael Ampadu is injured, that is why he didn’t play, but for Korsah, he is not with us anymore," he added.
Hearts of Oak defeated Heart of Lions 8-7 on penalty shootouts to lift the trophy.
Denis Korsah joined Hearts of Oak in 2022 from Ebusua Dwarfs following an impressive performance at the time.
He was instrumental in the team’s FA Cup and President Cup wins in 2022 and even earned his maiden Ghana call-up in 2022.
With the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League set to kick off on September 6, Hearts of Oak will kick off their campaign with a home game against Basake Holy Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
