Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the key backer of Asante Kotoko, is preparing to appoint a new Board of Directors ahead of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, according to Nhyira FM.
After the dissolution of the management led by Nana Yaw Amponsah and the Board under Dr. Kwame Kyei following the 2022/23 season, an Interim Management Committee (IMC) was established to oversee the club.
The IMC includes former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, Prosper Ogum Narteh, who is also the team’s head coach, Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi as Administrative Manager, and Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah.
Under the IMC’s leadership, Asante Kotoko concluded the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season in 6th place with 49 points.
However, the Club Licensing Committee mandates that an Interim Committee cannot oversee the club for more than one season, necessitating the formation of a new Board of Directors.
The new Board is expected to be composed of no more than six members. The Executive Board Chairman will lead the Management Team, which is still to be appointed.
The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season begins on September 6, with Asante Kotoko set to start their campaign with an away match against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
