Ghana's 4x100m men's relay squad has punched their ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with a resounding victory over Nigeria during the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas.
Overcoming a hiccup during the relay changeover on the first day, the Ghanaian quartet, comprising Ibrahim Fuseini, Isaac Botsio, Benjamin Azamati, and Joseph Paul Amoah, exhibited remarkable resilience as they surged to triumph in Heat 2 at the Thomas A Robinson National Stadium in Nassau.
With a Season Best time of 38.29 seconds, the team sealed their spot at the Summer Games.
Nigeria, previous gold medalists at the 2023 African Games, also secured an Olympic berth, trailing Ghana with a time of 38.57 seconds.
Joining Ghana and Nigeria from the continent are South Africa and Liberia, forming Africa's representation at the 33rd Olympic Games.
In the 4x100m finals, the USA showcased dominance in both the men's and women's categories, clinching gold and setting championship records.
The American men's squad, led by world champion Noah Lyles, claimed the top honours with a swift time of 37.40 seconds, while the women's team established a new record of 41.85 seconds.
Looking ahead to their Olympic campaign, the Ghanaian relay team is steadfast in their determination to leave a mark in Paris, aiming to build upon their impressive showing at the Tokyo 2020 edition.
Despite facing disqualification in the final due to a lane violation, the team had set a national record, fueling their focus on making a resounding statement once again on the Olympic stage.
