Ghanaian swimmer Abeiku Jackson views his recent double medal triumph as a significant milestone paving the way for future accomplishments in the sport.

As the captain of Team Ghana, Jackson made history by breaking Ghana's prolonged medal drought at the continental event, securing the country's inaugural medal on Day 2.

His remarkable performance earned him a silver medal in the Men's 50m Butterfly final, clocking an impressive time of 24.23 seconds.

Additionally, Jackson secured a bronze medal in the fiercely contested rescheduled Men's 100m Butterfly final on Day 4, finishing with a time of 53.80 seconds.

Reflecting on his achievement, Jackson remarked, "It's a stepping stone. My first African Games was in Morocco, where I managed to place in the top five, top four. I progressed from fifth and fourth in individual events to now standing on the podium. Who knows what the next African Games will hold for me?"

He expressed his excitement about competing in the host nation and the overwhelming support from fans. "It's exciting to be here, to hear the fans cheering for you, and to have everyone behind you supporting you. I am deeply grateful to my family, my friends, and everyone who has supported me. I just want to say thank you."

In other events on Day 4, Mensah Joselle secured fourth place in the Women's 50m Breaststroke Heat 2 with a time of 33.73 seconds, securing her spot in the finals scheduled for 17:00 GMT.
