A fine display from Medeama Sporting Club on Sunday afternoon saw the team beat Horoya SC 3-1 in the CAF Champions League.
The Ghana Premier League Champions locked horns with the Guinean club today in the first leg of the tie in the final playoff round to the group stages of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League campaign.
In a game played at the Cape Coast Stadium, neither side could find the back of the net in the first half.
After recess, a fierce contest ensued between the two teams resulting in four goals.
The deadlock of the game was broken in the 58th minute when attacker Nana Kofi Babil scored to give Medeama Sporting Club a deserved lead.
Later in the game, the hosts doubled their lead through an equaliser from Nurudeen Abdulai in the 65th minute.
Four minutes after that goal, an outstanding strike from Kofi Asmah from long range made it 3-0 for Medeama SC.
Before full-time, Horoya AC pulled one back as the game ended 3-1 in favour of the Ghanaian side.
The victory means Medeama SC are very close to qualifying for the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
