COMMONWEALTH super featherweight champion, James Armah (Bukom Fire), extended his supremacy to the lightweight division when he dethroned England’s Bobby Vancie in Manchester on Saturday night.
The fight, which travelled the entire distance, had Armah far ahead of his opponent at the end of the final bell.
The comprehensive output by the Ghanaian afforded the sole Referee/Judge the easiest of tasks to declare the winner to the delight of the large crowd of boxing fans at the arena.
No wonder, Vancie walked straight to his opponent’s corner to congratulate him after the verdict was announced.
This time, Vancie’s rugged and unorthodox style which sees him hitting and running in a southpaw stance as manifested in his technical knockout victory over Lartekwei Hammond last October, could not match Armah’s speed and awesome ringcraft.
By that wonderful victory, “Bukom Fire” has set a record for being twice Commonwealth champion in two different weight divisions in less than five months.
The Ghanaian first won the super featherweight title by dethroning Charles Shepherd, also from England, last September.
The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has sent a message of congratulation to James Armah for that impressive victory.
