King Faisal have eliminated Asante Kotoko from this season’s MTN FA Cup competition to advance to the Round 32 stage.
The Inshallah lads this afternoon locked horns with the Porcupine Warriors at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in a Round 64 clash of the domestic cup competition.
In a game where both teams fancied their chances, neither side opted to sit deep as they played an opened game that produced an exciting contest.
Following an impressive showing in the early parts of the first half, King Faisal grabbed the lead through Baba Yahaya after he capitalised on a defensive error to punish the reds.
Despite the pressure that would come from Asante Kotoko, King Faisal managed to defend very well and kept a clean sheet to secure a hard-fought 1-0 win at the end of the 90 minutes.
As a result of the narrow win, King Faisal have knocked out Asante Kotoko from this season’s MTN FA Cup and are now into the Round 32 stage.
This is the second time King Faisal have beaten Asante Kotoko this season. Early this month, the side recorded an impressive 3-2 win in the Ghana Premier League.
