The Black Satellites of Ghana have been crowned the champions of the 2020 WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations tournament after coming from behind to beat their Burkina Faso counterpart 2-1.
The two West African countries were in action at the Stade de Gaules in Benin today to honour a date in the final after enjoying successful campaigns from the group stage to the knockout phase.
With the Young Stallions of Burkina Faso dominating the early parts of the first half, they deservedly took the lead in the 15th minute courtesy of a strike from Kouame Jean Fiacre Botue.
Having failed to stay with momentum, the favourites allowed Ghana to grown in confidence as the game progressed.
Eventually, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh found the back of the net in the 40th minute to ensure the game stayed on level pegging at the break.
In the second half, the Ghana team defended very well while pushing forward for a potential winning goal.
Fortunately, the efforts of the Satellites paid off in the 79th minute with the team’s talisman Percious Boah scoring from a free-kick from well over 30-yards.
With no answer from Burkina Faso, the Ghana U-20 team has won the 2020 WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations tournament.
