Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has urged up-and-coming creatives to remain dedicated to their craft and never give up on their dreams.
The box office queen shared this advice on Monday while announcing a historic milestone for her upcoming movie, 'The Four'.
Akindele revealed that the film will hold its UK premiere at the iconic ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London on November 29. She noted that this makes it the first Nollywood title to premiere at the prestigious venue, adding that the 791-seat room will be filled with Nigerian stories.
The filmmaker stated that achieving this feat required immense hard work and dedication, and she is thrilled to be the one to do it.
Akindele said her greatest joy comes from knowing that young creatives look at her journey and believe they can achieve the same. She encouraged upcoming filmmakers to keep pushing, expressing hope that her work provides a platform for them to tell their own stories.
The actress expressed deep gratitude to her actors, crew, and fans for their unwavering support, noting that this is just the beginning for the industry.
She wrote:
"I’m humbled and so grateful to God for this feat! On November 29th, #TheFourNoOneFightsAlone will have its UK premiere at ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London. It’s the first Nollywood film to premiere at this prestigious venue! 791 seats, and we’re filling that room with our stories. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, and I’m so glad I get to do this."
"One of the things that means the most to me is knowing there are young creatives out there who look at my journey and say, 'I can do this too.' To every up-and-coming Nollywood filmmaker, please don’t give up on your dreams. I hope the work we’re doing today gives you a platform to tell your own stories and take them even further. This is just the beginning for our industry, and I’m excited about what we can do together."
"To my actors, my crew, my fans and everyone who keeps showing up for me, thank you for the love, support and encouragement. I’m forever grateful. THE FOUR… No One Fights Alone!! In cinemas nationwide December 11th. See you at the box office!"
