University for Development Studies (UDS), one of Ghana's leading public universities is causing "topsy-turvydom" at the 8th edition of the Mini Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) games held in Cape Coast. The event commenced on the 3rd of January 2019 and is set to come to a close on 11th January, 2019.
Eight (8) public universities namely; University for Development Studies (UDS), University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), University of Education (UEW), University of Ghana (UG), University of Cape Coast (UCC), University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) and University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) are participating in these games.
Day 1 (3rd Jan) of the games saw UDS Women's Football team beating UCC (host university) Women's Football team by a lone goal to nil. At the men's level same day, UHAS received a whooping 3 straight defeat in volleyball, a match which justified that "every man has his master".
Day 2 (4th Jan) was another all victory day for UDS as the women's football team crushed UEW women's football team 5:1 at 90mins. UDS men's football team trampled upon UG's men's team at a 4:3 90mins total defeat whereas UEW fell at the feet of UDS Women's Volleyball team with a 2:3 win for UDS.
Day 3 (5th Jan) was not a good day for the premier university's women's football team as they bowed in awe to the strength and skill of the daughters of the Baobab in a 0:2 lose. The Sons of the Baobab also went ahead to cripple UENR volleyball team at 3:2 defeat. UCC, through some "marine orchestrations" could equal the Sons of the Baobab in a 2:2 draw in men's football.
The games are still ongoing and would end on the 11th January, 2019 as earlier mentioned. However, the first three days have ostensibly seen the Baobab fraternity of UDS causing extreme fear, panic and bedlam in the inner places of the other 7 universities especially University of Ghana (UG) whose sportsmen have began praying for a sudden miracle to occur so they don't meet the UDS team again.
