JJ Rawlings says, “it’s not over”, Ghana, shine your eyes

JJ RawlingsJJ Rawlings

Ghana’s ex-President JJ Rawlings warned the New Democratic Congress (NDC) at the 2nd Revolutionary Lecture Series held recently at the National Theatre in Accra that “it’s not over, it’s not over”.

Was he warning the NDC or he was warning Ghanaians? And don’t tell me that I am quoting him out of context. “Shine your eyes”, my people!

When a man who overthrew a military government and murdered decorated Generals and other senior military officers says “it’s not over”, you need to “shine your eyes.”

When a man who overthrew a constitutionally elected government and replaced it with his own government tells you “it’s not over”, you need to shine your eyes.

When the former Head of State of a nation who murdered judges and an army Major continues to celebrate this heinous act and now tells you “it’s not over”, you need to shine your eyes.

When a man who murdered hundreds of perceived saboteurs says “it’s not over”, you need to shine your eyes.

When a man who supervised over a culture of silence and got away with it says, “it’s not over”, you need to shine your eyes.

When a man who sold off public corporations to friends and family for pittance says “it’s not over”, you need to shine your eyes.

When a former Head of State who educated his children overseas and lied that his friends paid their tuition says “it’s not over”, you need to shine your eyes.

When an ex-President who keeps celebrating his atrocities with impunity says, “it’s not over”, you need to shine your eyes.

When a former Head of State who keeps trumpeting tribal sentiments says “it’s not over”, you need to shine your eyes.

National Security needs to pick up this threat and work on it ASAP.

The NPP needs to sit up! It's not over indeed. The NPP needs to pay attention to the complaints of the grassroots and not be dismissive of their grumblings with impunity. Accusations of corruption, especially,?from the party faithfuls must not be ignored. Disaffections within the rank and file are signs of dangers ahead. You can't be employing your family members and friends and tell the grassroots on whose back you rode to power there are no jobs. Forewarned is Forearmed
