A member of the Church of Pentecost branch at Atsiafuni near Denu, one Rabi Butame, 30, was struck dead by thunder at the Church premises after a rainstorm last Friday.
Two others; Mawuli Agblornu, 45, and Ernest Fodzenu, 38, were severely injured with burns all over their bodies.
A source close to the Church told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) members of the Church were undertaking a construction work on the premises when the rain started, compelling them to stop the work temporarily.
The source said when the rain subsided, the group resumed work when the lightning shockingly struck with a booming sound hitting the premises main metre board close to the store room, where materials for the work were kept.
The source said after the lightning, the room was engulfed in thick smoke and in an attempt to pick some building materials with wheelbarrow, the deceased died and the two others got injured.
The Denu Police corroborated the story and said the charred body of the deceased was kept in the morgue at the Ketu South Municipal at the Aflao where the two injured were also receiving treatment.
The police said they found no foul play regarding the incident but said investigation was ongoing.
