The Volta Region can now boast of its own television station as Volta 1 TV ( V1TV ) the first private station was officially outdoored over the weekend.
The Awomefia of Anlo Traditional Area, Torgbui Sri who was a guest speaker at the launch at the Jubilee Park Ho, was excited because the new TV station will open the region up with good programming contents in the local Ewe language.
Torgbui Sri also commended the owners of the station for the bold step and urged them to keep the standard in order to promote the region and its numerous tourist sites.
Former Chairman of Ghana Football Association, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamekloe who is also the Medical Director at Nyaho Clinic in Accra, in his speech expressed the hope the new TV station, which is available on the Multi TV, will do well and compete with others in the country.

He advised the workers to work hard and lift the image of the station and the region so as to bring development to the region.
“I believe the V1TV has a bright future “Dr Nyaho expressed.
Program Manager for the V1TV, Egypt Kudoto assured the gathering that the station will strive to become the pivot of unity in the Volta Region.
“V1TV will give good publicity to our rich culture as well as promote our unique tourist sites in order to attract foreign investors,” Mr. Kudoto assured.
The first television station in the region is powered by Broadcom Satellite Network and is currently on test transmission covering Africa and beyond. It has programs with local content like Ewe Nyadzodzowo [Ewe news] as well as health and entertainment among many others.
Other celebrities who graced the event included actor John Dumelo as well as Ghanaian boxer, Isaac Dogboe.
