
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned and emergency power outages scheduled for Wednesday, June 10, 2026, affecting parts of the Ashanti, Tema, Accra East, Accra West, Volta, and Western Regions.
According to the company, the interruptions are due to routine maintenance works as well as a transformer fault currently being addressed by engineers.
In the Ashanti Region, three separate maintenance exercises are expected to take place. The first, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, will affect Tikrom, Besease, Boankra, Kubease, Bonfa Junction, Bonfa Township, Asiwa and nearby communities. The second, scheduled from 9:00am to 3:00pm, will impact Apaa, Kyekyewere and surrounding areas. Both notices were issued on Friday, June 5, 2026.
In the Tema Region, maintenance works from 10:00am to 4:00pm will affect several communities, including the Sea Water Desalination Plant enclave, Maranatha, Buade, Glow Lamp, Frimpongmaa Estates, Abrantie, Dan Adams, Coastal Estates, Basket, GCB Training School, Ataa Adama, Royal Ravico, Junction Mall area, Regimanuel Estates, Parakuo Estates, Queensland International School, Kpoo Keke, Best Western Premier Hotel, Leisure Hours Hotel, and large parts of Nungua including Zongo, Township, Traditional Council, Polyclinic and Secondary School. Also affected are the Kpeshie Divisional Police Headquarters, Coco Beach, Main 1, Father’s Hotel, C5 and adjoining areas.
In the Accra East Region, two maintenance exercises are planned. The first, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, will affect Dome Pillar 2, Dome Auntie Mary, East Airport International School and surrounding areas. The second, running from 9:00am to 5:00pm, will impact Doblo, Satellite, Sapeiman, Medie, Kotoku, Pobiman, Blue Skies, Hebron, Ahodwo, Fotobi, Pakrom, Obudan, Kwasikrom and nearby communities.
For the Accra West Region, maintenance will take place from 9:00am to 5:00pm, affecting Kwasi Tenten, Asuaba, Anoff, Adeiso, Maame Dede, Coaltar, Dorkrochiwa, Danso, Ofankor Attah Mills, Ofankor Market, Government Hospital area, Township, Omanjor, New Bortianor, Red Top and surrounding communities.
In addition, ECG said a transformer fault has led to unexpected outages in Dansoman St Anthony’s, Bolla Junction, Della, Amasaman Education Service area, Railways, Pokuase Adusah Quarters and nearby locations. Engineers are currently working to restore supply.
In the Volta Region, planned maintenance from 9:00am to 3:00pm will affect Sovie, Vakpo, Anfoegea, Wusuta, Aveme, Sabadu, Bume, Tsrekpe Botoku and adjoining areas.
The Western Region will also experience emergency maintenance from 9:00am to 4:00pm, affecting Akoon, UEE, parts of Market Circle, Railway Quarters, Apinto Hospital, Cyanide, Kwabedu, Alhaji Dauda, New Atuabo, Budo City, Banso, Esuosu and surrounding communities.
ECG expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and urged customers to make alternative arrangements for power-dependent activities during the outage periods. It assured that electricity will be restored immediately after maintenance works are completed or the transformer fault is fixed.
The company also advised the public to report electrical hazards and warned residents to treat all fallen cables as live and dangerous.
