Head of Finance of St. Dominic Hospital insist over paid salaries be paid to Government chest
Upon a story filed by myjoyonline, new crusading guide and newshq concerning a purported fraud scandal that plaqued St. Dominic Hospital and cited Mr. Yaw Opoku Agyei as the leading figure in this act, has broken his silence.
In an interview with rainbow radio international, neatfm and pulse on joy news channel, Mr. Agyei explained that instructing the new recruits to refund monies paid to them for the month of August 2015 was the right procedure and cannot amount to fraud as one of the recruits tried to paint to the public through the media.
He stated that he has no hand to issuing of appointment letters to have had a hand in supposed back dating of their letters.
He said, these recruits failed to report to work in August 2015 as stipulated in their appointed letters citing accommodation challenges. Their salaries came and had the month of August which they did not work for added. And as in proper practice they couldn't have earned what is not due them by virtue of no work done. Noticing this anomaly, he issues a directive that all the 7 recuits should pay back to chest through accounts number of Controller and Accountant General‘s Department.
All obliged except one lady who felt she was being short changed though she knew she did not work for the month of August 2015.
Due to this case he has been interdicted and beliefs that it is unfair and unjust because the evidence on the grounds does not support the claims of perpetuating fraud as carried out in the media. He has petitioned the hospital's management to reverse the interdiction and apologised to him.
He said he is in the knowledge of BNI equally investigating the issue and beliefs that per the evidence on the grounds he will be exonerated.
